- Combines online and face-to-face instruction. Students may participate in different ways: online - synchronous, online - asynchronous, face-to-face, or as a flexible learner (student has a degree of choice as to how they participate each week).

- Flex courses may provide students with the opportunity to meet in-person on campus, on the synchronous days and times already scheduled, if conditions allow.
- Imputed credits
- Imputed credits are developmental courses for students who need to prepare themselves for college-level work. They count toward financial aid requirements but do not count toward earned college credits or GPA.
- Interactive TV
- Classes are taught live from one campus location and broadcast to one or more additional campus locations. Cameras and microphones at all sites allow faculty and learners to see and talk with each other.
Starting with the origins of American law enforcement, this course concentrates on contemporary law enforcement agencies and their function within the criminal justice system. Students will study police agencies at the local, county, state, and federal levels, and their operational techniques, as well as goals and objectives within specific units of each agency. This course focuses on the etiology and typologies of the phenomenon of a serial killer, what makes a serial killer, and what impact a serial killer has on society. A cross-section of serial killers is explored, identifying what is believed to have caused these individuals to kill. Eligibility: ENG 1510 without supports or Corequisite: ENG 1510 with supports. Analyzes the basic procedures used in the investigation of a criminal matter. Students are required to demonstrate proper crime scene investigation techniques via photographing, sketching, and evidence collection for crimes against property and crimes against a person as well as study interview and interrogation techniques and courtroom demeanor and testimony. Course includes an analysis of the origin and general principles of criminal law. Incorporates substantive criminal law with emphasis on the elements of each crime and the proof required to prosecute or defend the crime charged. Students will explore many of the ethical problems confronting legal system personnel, including police, lawyers, judges, and corrections personnel. Course materials will focus on ethical systems, the concepts of law and justice, and various real life ethical dilemmas. Prerequisite: ENG 1510, CRI 1510. J occasionally; C occasionally.
