EARN grant for summer

Get ahead on your college and career goals this summer with Jamestown Community College! The Educational Advancement for Regional Neighbors (EARN) grant covers the cost of tuition for one summer course at JCC. This grant is available to the first 150 high school students who apply and enroll in a course during one of our two summer sessions.

The grant application has closed for summer 2023.

  • Open to current high school students ages 15 and older by the start of the term.
  • Must either live or attend high school in Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, or Allegany county.
  • Must have been a New York state resident for at least 12 months prior to the course start date.
  • Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to those who complete the application and all the required documentation by the application deadline.

Summer Session I

  • May 8 - last day to submit EARN application
  • May 12 - payment of student accounts due (fees associated with the course)
  • May 17 - first day of classes
  • May 29 - Memorial Day - no classes
  • June 28 - last day of classes - follows a Monday schedule
    • Last day to choose CR/F or audit grade option
    • Last day to officially withdraw from an individual class with a grade of "W"
  • June 29 - grades entered into Banner Web by 3 p.m.

Summer Session II

  • May 12 - payment of student accounts due (fees associated with the course) - if registering after May 12, payment is due upon registration
  • June 21 - last day to submit EARN application
  • July 5 - first day of classes
  • August 15 - last day of classes
    • Last day to choose CR/F or audit grade option
    • Last day to officially withdraw from an individual class with a grade of "W"
  • August 16 - grades entered into Banner Web by 3 p.m.
  • Students are responsible for all fees (non-refundable) and any textbooks/supplies.
  • Students must meet all eligibility requirements for courses they wish to enroll in.
  • Enrollment in course is on a space-available basis.
  • Students who are residents of a county other than Cattaraugus or Chautauqua must have a valid certificate of residence (COR) form or fill out a COR form.
  • Students must get parent consent before the EARN application will be accepted.
